Oil price good news ?
I noticed last week the price of wheat fell by 25% gold by 12% and oil by about 5%, they talk about supply and demand I think this is cobblers,
could this be the winding down of massive speculation and margin call due to the credit crunch, I hope so.
Jack
Sadly I think not to the good news, wheat (climate and increasing demand) oil (demand and the geo-political situation) means that IMHO its just a blip in a upward curve that isn't going to get any better...
Thats why i will be getting my 7 year old behind the wheel in my fields as soon as poss, in thirty years I can't see too many big gas guzzling 4x4's will be on the road, which rules out our three current vehicles  best enjoy whilst we still can :D
a world wide economic slow down might lead to a temporary fall in oil price but without vast new sources of supply it will be just that ....temporary. What does surprise me however is that so few commentators point out that the real cause of global warming/oil shortage is the quadroupling of the worlds population over the past century- with more to come, 9 billion by 2060

Why should that surprise you? It is the one issue that the general population refuses to address - made worse by the fact that some of the countries with the highest rates of pollution are also the same as those that believe in big families.
Nobody is going to advocate a mass culling... though that is probably the one thing that can save us.

In the good old days we had the good old war to regulate populations, but not anymore....
Well I know it sounds a bit like Hitler's policys but one could weed out the 25% "underclass", or more kindly prevent them from breeding at least, or even stop subsdising them TOO breed.
Taking Northern Ireland as an example at least.
I can understand that the situation is different in the developing world, in the absence of any pensions one requires offspring to support one in old age, and with poor life expectancy one has plenty of children.

Peter that is exactly what they plan go to google "endgame".
