any advise on springs and suspension

hi all
my rear shocks needs replacing what are my options for that any advices appreciated
fronts seems ok but shoud i change them as well?
i know rear shocks replaced once not sure about front
as my g is now 22 years old should i change the springs as well?

Hello Mustafa,

Theorectically, Yes, you should change the s/absorbers by now, but then, why change if not required. S/absorber life is approximately 30-36,000 mls. for road use, but then these are an off roader.

To test for renewal of the s/absorber, push down hard and firmly at each corner of the vehicle and notice to see the pattern of bounce back or ocillations that result. A good s/aborber will allow about one and half cycle of ocillation, a poor one will just allow the bonce to continue on.

Repeat this for each corner of the vehicle, one thing I would say, always change the s/aborber as a set per axle, i.e. if one s/absorber is poor and the other acceptable, testing on the same axle, change them both as set.
