100% Synthetic Oil - M113E50 V8

I have 3 petites questionettes:
1) Is it recommended to use 100% synthetic oil in the G500 petrol engine (M113E50 V8 - MY 05)?
2) What grade should one use in a Mediterranean climate?
3) Any recommended makes?

I definitely recommend Mobil 1 5w50: can withstand Madrid winters at -10ºC and summers at 45ºC. It is also Mercedes' recommendation and I can buy it very cheaply in supermarkets here at about € 30 for the 4 litre container....
I use it for my 1999 320 ML which has basically the same engine minus 2 cylinders...
