hello,

quick question, what would the difference be between the engine in a 280ge and a 1994 280e saloon. fuel power etc etc.

280 M110 is a much older design engine early 80's, so the 1994 280e should be much more powerful and more economical but not a design evolution this would be a whole new engine, just the capacity is the same.

280GE engine was rated for 150/155 HP while E280 engine had, I believe, 190 HP....

correct, my gel has the coupe engine fitted 185/190 bhp a bit of a pain to do but worth it in the end...

When comparing like - for - like engines fitted to saloons and the G-Wagen, engine fitted to the G-Wagens were usually de-tuned, i.e. the compression ratios were marginally lower to cater for off road driving condtions.

I think this helped in bringing the torque curve at lower RPM's.

But I believe you are not questioning a like-for-like engines'.

seemed a great buy for someone, could have been myself but cant stretch at the moment. maybe buy it and put it in a g, the conversion on it must be worth that?!
