Hi,

I have just wired a blower fan in (one of the people on here and posted a mini tutorial about how to put a vauxhall astra blower into the gwagens)

I have done all that and the blower works so I have 2 questions!

1: Whats the best way to keep the cables from getting wet and also the connectors?

2: I'm slightly concerned that no heat is coming through. Does the Heat on the G wagens come from the engine (which means then i havent ran the car long enough!)

Many thanks

Joe

1. not seen what you have done .. but options are;
Silicon sealant seals everything! but ugly one way..
Heat shrink from Maplin, RS Components or electronics place
Self amalgamating tape from electronics place (this is rubber based and slowly desolves into one block of rubber
Get some nice sealed connectors; Amphenol or similar
(www.carbuildersolutions.co.uk has most of this)

2. Yes .. if engine top hose is not toasty.. then heater will not produce heat.. which is few miles on these older engines :cry:

If your heater matrix heats up but not blowing hot air, double check the direction of the donor fan. It could sucking air into the matrix, rather than blowing out.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. The heaters working fine just needed to be running a little longer (plus it helps when i put the heater temp up to hot not cold :oops: )

With the heater should the top be closed. By this i mean on the bonnet there is a little grill above the heater (i guess to suck cold air in) but when it rains the heaters going to get wet. Is this a problem or not?

The heater matrix is actually tucked away up from the body in the dash so any rain should not get to it from the vertical (it should drain out in the body section) .. and the air speed is slow enough to ensure the fan would not blow fast enough to carry water onto the heater matrix... it works for every other G this way so do not worry about the factory set up getting wet .. only your new "helper/replacement" fan will get wet.
