Anybody know wether the window motor on a 463 crosses over with any other vehicle? In essence I need one but would sooner not pay genuine full whack. :?:

My problem was not the motor it was down to the total closure alarm getting in a twist.

This one is the drivers side will not drop. You can hear the engine pull when the switch is activated which suggests motor or regulator jammed. How did you cure yours?

You will need to dismantle the regulator and check the flexible cable that operates the lifting bit. It is like a worm drive and you can jam it . See attached pic of the regulator removed from the door.

Re: Electric window motor???

i had a problem with my near side cable the teeth had got chewed up at a favorite stopping place i was able to detach it and reverse it and it works fine now as the worn teeth are in a part that dosent meet the cog . i also managed to unsieze the motor on the other side when it stopped working .both these minor feats gave me great satifaction ,hope this helps if not at least ive relived one of my better mending nights. :)ps it was a 460 but it looks same as russ,s picture.

Re: Electric window motor???

I aslo carried out the same repair of reversing the flexible cable due to wear. However, I went a step future and replaced the gear which drives the cable as that was worn to excess. To do that I needed to dismantle the motor and gearbox mechanism. That required drilling out several spot welds and manufacture of a new gear. I sorted out spare gears if you need any.

I wrote an article for the club magazine but it was lost prior to publication last year
