Well I am no longer looking for a G I live in the zone and would no longer get the 90% dicount on the congestion charge, £25 a day is too much for me to pay, thank you to all for your advice and if you ever need any advice on property please feel free to ask. :D

Re: Thank you Ken

You could always register it as a private bus or taxi.... I have heard of a few G owners who have...

Re: Thank you Ken

you could still buy a pre 2001 G wagen with less than 3 Litres engine capacity & pay the standard rate

I did see that but couldn't find details.

Do you know if this is based on the year of manufacture or registration. And if registration then UK registration?

I ask as my G is a 2000 - first registered in Germany late 1999 but first registered in the UK 2007.

Re: Thank you Ken

Although I found it very confusing I also read it as a pre 2001 G with a less than 3litre engine would be OK. My 1992 463 should be OK then and possibly be a little more attractive to a buyer in the future.

Is there a way of finding out the co2 emmissions from a car not registered after 1997? Nothing on the MOT that I could see.

All assuming he gets voted in, you never know, he may yet choke on his whiskey.

Yours is first reg in 2001 isn't it? I was wondering why I saw you at the Whiskey store tampering with the bottles...

Re: Thank you Ken

I think if your reg documents show your over 226 g/km Co2 your in the £25 bracket regardless of when registered.

Still, it's all for a good cause  ,, and we'll get our money back when we put in a claim for tripping over one of the "free bikes" that will be left sprawled across a pavement somewhere

Re: Thank you Ken

I think we ought to all chip in and rent a run down grotty flat in the poorest part of Germany. We can then all register our Gs there and use German plates.

Can you see the expressions on the German officials when you go to register your car.... "Sie haben kein geld, sie leben in einer wohnung noch schaumig aber sie haben HOW MANY Gelaendewagens????"

By the way Mark I heard they're extending the congestion zone up to Archway...

Re: Thank you Ken

some people say i over react occasionally or i am a bit too agressive.
anyway heres the idea, everybody who is about to get hit by red kens 25 quid special pays 25 into an offshors bank account.when theres enough in it the money gets spent on renting some gun toting nutter from, say, the former yugoslavia to fly to the uk and slot ken.
simple.
to think we could have done this years ago and not had to put up with the muppett all this time.
best idea ive had all day !
what do you think lads?

Re: Thank you Ken

Er,
Why go all the way to Yougoslavia?
lots of underemployed gunmen over here
oops
sorry
They are too busy running? the country for any more of that nonsense
and making toooo much money out of it as well
PS
Max
Whatever made you think Ken actually BUYS any whiskey
Though I do suppose he has to get it somewhere
Actually I reckon the hiring of a huge disabled non Christian homesexual Nigerian with rampant AIDS to fuck him would be the answer, eventually.

Re: Thank you Ken

Well there is an upside to all this... the price of G500s and G400s is plummeting. As mentioned elsewhere there are both G500s and G400s now appearing for low ~£20k

Makes newer Gs that much more affordable for those that don't live in London and it also means that 300Gs will be more desirable since they won't be penalised by the higher charge.

Re: Thank you Ken

CO2 table on the tfl website is silent about 9 seaters, so perhaps remains exempt?

Just found out that unfortunately it is from when your car is registered with the DVLA. Guess that means I pay £25.... ah well might as well buy a G400 then.
