engine cuts out
I have G400cdi cabriolet 2001 LHD, it will ( c.8 times 8000mls ) cut out the engine with an EMC message of battery / alternator visit workshop. once you have stopped put into park and turned key to off , it will then restart with no error messages recorded ?
I have had it tested at local merc garage with no faults identified , has anyone experienced similar issues ?

Hi look at the earthing /bonding straps between engine and body starting at the battery terminals... it could be corrosion at any of the attaching points ..each one would require cleaning in a bicarbonate of soda solution... terminal ends and bolt threads..setting park and switching off resets the system..any break in electrical continuity could give you the problem identification indicated.....
