Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to wire a newer type radio into a 280ge?

I have read the other articles about it on here but there are no answers :( I have purchased a connector (Link) and it all the connectors connect to my new radio but i can't figure out how to connect it to the merc wiring :(

Any help would be great :)
Many thanks
Joe

This is from the Mercedes Audio 10 manual.

A is the black socket

B is the brown socket

The orden of the pins in each socket is L to R and Up to down, i.e.:

1357
2468

The only other thing that you need to plug is the antenna in its corresponding socket.

Good luck!

Joe,

You need to identify the wires in your G.

Car audio wires normally follow the same logical patterns. For example:

12 volt positive is normally black (A 4 in the pdf file, constant positive)
12 volt negative (earth) is normally brown (A 8 in the pdf file)

(these two are normally loose cables, i.e. not attached to any other)

The you have some wires that come in pairs. These normally are those of the loudspeakers (one colour per loudspeaker). For example:

Green striped: Rear right hand positive (B 1 in the attached pdf file)
Green non-striped: Rear right hand negative (B 2 in the attached pdf file)
Grey striped: Front right hand positive (B 3 in the attached pdf file)
Grey non-striped: Front right hand negative (B 4 in the attached pdf file)
White striped: Rear left hand positive (B 5 in the attached pdf file)
White non-striped: Rear left hand negative (B 6 in the attached pdf file)
Blue striped: Front left hand positive (B 7 in the attached pdf file)
Blue non-striped: Front left hand negative (B 8 in the attached pdf file)

You must also have a thicker cable that plugs directly into D for the antenna.

You may have another possible red wire the carries the lighting (the switches and dials in the radio will light with radio off when you switch the car lights), that you need to connect to A6.

That shoud be it for an older GWagen...
