Hi,

I have a problem :(

I'm getting slightly concerned that something in my gwagon (280ge) is draining my battery...At first i thought it was because i kept testing out my lights without the engine on but now im thinking it isn;t.

Its being done up at the moment so its not being driven around much so could that be the problem? Or could it be something else :|

Many thanks
Joe

Re: Battery Problem :(

I have this problem - the battery drains completely after leaving the car a week or so without use. So far discovered there is a drain of around 0.3amp over the circuit which feeds my car central locking which surprise, surprise is problematic - sometimes it works but then it doesn't. My temporary fix is to simply disconnect the negative connection at the battery when leaving the car for a while. Mind you I drive around with jump leads and a spare battery in the boot.

Re: Battery Problem :(

Hi,

Thanks for the reply :)

I've found that its because I haven't let the battery charge enough from the engine so its me being stupid!

Thanks again

Re: Battery Problem :(

Hiya

Im having this same problem. One week and the battery is completly flat. Had to buy a brand new battery as the last one wouldnt even re charge. Still having same problem though. Apart from disconnecting it when not driving it for a while, what can solve the problem long term? or is this just the way it is?? I feel there must be a fault somewhere in there but haven't a clue what it is.

Thanks

Re: Battery Problem :(

Hi,

If you have a G that sits around for a while then I would suggest that you fit one of the electronic chargers that maintain the battery at the optimum charge. You can leave them on 24 hours a day with caps on the battery etc and they have a quick release connector that attaches permanently to the terminals so they are fairly convenient (unless your car is parked in the street!). I use a C-Tek 7200 personally and have found it great but they make bigger and smaller versions like the one in the link which was the first I found in the UK. C-TEK xs3600

Of course there are probably a lot of other brands available in the UK that will do the job.

I have found that the battery life is extended plus you have the knowledge that your battery is charged whenever you go to use your vehicle.

Of course if your battery is already cactus then the charger won't solve your problems.

FWIW

Re: Battery Problem :(

I also had to live with this problem. In my case, the main culprit of drain was the solenoids on the door locks. (I had mine tested and there was an electric drain, too expensive to cure) Other drain is the immobilizer if you have one. Best way is to disconnect the battery if you intend to leave the cart for some time, or connect a good battery to a trickle charger, no more than 2 amps, when not in use.I
