Parts Question

My G is due for it MOT next month, so I am doing a little housework on it.

I have ordered most of the service parts from Europarts and found them very competitive, however the price for rear brake shoes is £190.00. This seems a little expensive. Any recommendations as to any other suppliers?

If this price is about right, I will obviously buy from them, just wanting to check that I'm not paying over the odds.

I may need a new steering box, and all the places I have tried do not have any in stock. Anyone got one for sale?

I'm also looking to renew the springs and dampers, which look to be the originals and are not doing a very good job. I've looked at some of the threads on this subject, but they all seem biased towards off road.

I live on a farm, so do gentle off roading every day, but I am just looking for some advice on a standard set up, and the best place to source the parts.

Thanks

Re: Parts Question

Hi rear brake shoes will reline... I get them from Belfast Brakes over the counter exchange GBP 32 per side plus Vat there must be a brake specialist in your area offering similar services...the merc 208 / 308 van use the same shoe..springs and shocks from S&M Springs 01775 712125 ask for Stewart or Karl.. springs around GBP 85 per corner and Monroe shocks around GBP 60 per corner plus vat.....steering boxes can be rebuilt ..if you buy a used /removed unknown quantity it could be as bad as the one you have...crappy oil is the worst enemy... naffs the bearings...look for a local O'haul shop....
