Another mystery is which of the relays in the fuse box related with wipers.
The problem is the 2nd and 3rd scale is working but not the 1st (with delay one). Any advice? (w461, 290 gdt, 1999)
Thanks Angelos

PS. Any diagram with all the relays of my car is welcomed.

Re: wiper relay

Hi Lower the fuse panel under the glove box (LHD) and your relays are in that area (same layout as the 460)... I think

Re: wiper relay

There should be a list fixed to the fusebox that will tell you what fuse is what. There is also another one in the back of one of the manuals. Service one maybe?

Re: wiper relay

Hi Maxwell,
Unfortunately, when I bought the car, the cover of the fuse box was missing  and the new one that I bought from Mercedes dealer is blank :(
The manual that I have is very poor, it is a very short and in fact is a bad translation from German to Greek (it looks Greek to me  ).
So, if someone could provide with some details such as relays description I will much appreciated.

Re: wiper relay

Maybe send a PM to Howard Green. He has a 2000 G290TD so it should be the same.

Re: wiper relay

Hello Angelos,

You may want to try and locate the wiper relay your self by getting an assistant to switch on and off the wiper for you, while you put your hand on the relays and by feeling which one clicks or vibarates. The relay vibarating will be the one you are after.

To futher test this out, remove the relay, if this dis-enables the wiper, you can be certain you have the right relay. Continue, to test wiper in all speeds so you can be absolutely sure that there are no other relays involved.

Re: wiper relay

Hi Pistonhead,
in fact the 2nd and the 3rd scale is working, the 1st is out of order. The meaning is there are 2 relays (am I correct?). I will follow your recommendation to sort out the mistery.
Cheers Angelos.

Re: wiper relay

Finally I fount something!!! :D
there are 2 identical relaus for both wipers (front and rear). Someone has changed them with another type (simpler) that let the wipers to work in 2nd and 3rd speed but not in 1st one. I will check with local MB to find the right one.
Thanks for help and when the missing speed will come back I will report. :)
