Anybody have any tips for re-fixing the captive nuts in rubber parts? Ataldite looks favourite but i'm sure there is a proper way - looks like a lot of stuff to learn now with new project :?

Re: rubber

Nope dont think Araldite or any other hard setting glue will work.
I am sure specialist products exist, however
I think you will find it difficult to resecure them, despite the manufacturers "wonder promises"
But basically you need a product that sets resilient, and sticks like F---
Where are they torn out?
I do know that the origional brand name "loktite" advertised that it could make "O" rings to size from rubber precisly cut with a very sharp blade, but that relied on perfectly contacting surfaces, wot you have not got
I am gibbering again
Good luck

Re: rubber

Thanks Marcus, gibbering is good, yes they were torn out. I think the problem with rubber is that once it has been vulcanised nothing sticks so I thought if i cleaned out the rust and undercut, something castable like araldite might do.
Something to think about..........,

Hi Chris "Tigerseal" I have used it as a filler for scratches/gouges and re-attaching the stiffeners on G' rubber wheelarches.once it has cured you can dress it into shape and it remains flexible ....comes in various colours....
