Hi all

As far as I know an m103 260 or 3litre is basically an m102 with 2 extra cylinders "grafted on"

Anyone ever done a conversion, and how complex was it really, the car is a manual box - is the injection system similar?

No prizes for guessing why I'm asking......

Re: m102 to m103

Hi,

I have just joined this forum and am catching up on old posts so forgive me if the topic is already stale.

I have a W460 with a 300e m103 engine fitted. According to the previous owner the conversion was done by MB. It looks very neat. There are no problems whatsoever. It is a m103.981, which was only used in the w126 se and sel, not sure what the difference is between a 103.981 and a 103.987, which is what you find in the 463 300GE.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you what was done to fit the engine, but I cannot see any signs of major work being done to the chassis.

Hi The engine 103.981 as in your G' was originally built for the W126 saloon most probably with a auto G'box..it would not have had the webbed sump and snorkel alternator and the exhaust manifold angles would be different. if you post the Vin/chassis number of your G' we can download the original factory specification and Email you a copy..might be able to trace what your existing engine was fitted to at the factory if you post the engine serial number.....
