Just had to replace the seals in our fuel pump (603 engine) as it was pouring fuel everywhere.
Can only assume that the previous owner of this engine used bio diesel which degraded the seals.
we use cold filtered used cooking oil in 617s and 601/602 and now 603 engines. No sign of seal break down in 3 years of usage.
Have heard that methanol and derivatives in 'Bio diesel' can cause problems.
Biggest problem we have with used veg oil in our delivery van (208D) is
dogs licking the van when stopped :?

Re: Bio Diesel

as far as alternate fuels are concerned vegoil, especially used is a bit corrosive to natural rubber, but biu more so.the answer is synthetic rubber replacement hoses etc made out of viton.
the story is that most 90s ish vehicles are likely to have viton already due to being cheaper etc etc.
i must sat yours is the first of that engine i have heard of having this happen.the best place for info would be a us forum because seems to be a big thing over there, despite their fuel prices.
