Re: BLOWER HEATER NOISE !!!!

hi it's the bearing behind the fan ..with a flex nozzle on wd 40 can it is a two handed job to put the nozzle behind the fan and feel for the shaft whilst standing on your head.... ie difficult....use a bicycle pump with hose attached dismantle the pump and part fill with medium weight mineral oil jack up front of G as high as you can feed hose behind and touch shaft behind the fan blades and pump let it soak the area for 10 min and run the fan at low rpm if squeal prevails.. repeat... alternative is remove the blower. strip and service ..not easy..

Re: BLOWER HEATER NOISE !!!!

Hi to access the blower motor you have to remove the dash panel inside under the windscreen...an alternative is to try to get some lubrication into the motor front bearing behind the fan blades which can be reached at the bottom rear of the air intake duct behind the engine in the engine bay....since the shaft is sitting horizontal there is no way to get oil to run into the bearing unless you can raise the front of the G' high enough to be able to trickle oil onto the shaft behind the fan blades using something to inject the lubricant onto the shaft. and let it run into the bearing...the alternative is to seal the drain port in the bottom of the heater duct and fill the duct with lubricant until the shaft and bearing is submerged.(the motor is sealed) but you do not want oil to get past the bearing into the motor so this method needs to be performed with limited time exposure of oil around the motor...it is also very messy.the bearing squeal is usually caused by the drain in the air duct being blocked and filling with rain or wash water then the fan being operated pushing water into the front bearing...."none of this is easy" but a new fan motor is GBP 150 + and you MUST remove the Dash panel to get to it..... so prevention is better than cure.......

Re: BLOWER HEATER NOISE !!!!

Hi fixwin,
on the fan blades there is a small hole. I inserted the nose of WD40 and sprayed a lot  . I tried the fan and the noise is stopped. Do you thing that this hole drives the lubricant to the right place? :? or I have sprayed to the air and the noise just stopped for the moment?

Re: BLOWER HEATER NOISE !!!!

Hi it really needs a lubricant heavier than WD40 and applied behind the centre hub of the fan blades...this is a repetative solution. the bearing has decayed enough to squeal and will probably rumble at low speed.running the fan at high speed immediatly after lubrication does tend to force the lubricant into the bearing.while your in there try lifting the fan blades. this will give you an idea of how decayed the bearing is.....

Re: BLOWER HEATER NOISE !!!!

I have already tried and I found that fan is mooving far more than normal, meaning is close to replace. I cannot understood why you have to dismantle almost half of the car to take the blades out and lubricate them  In cace that the noise will start again I will spray with grease  !!! just to delay the replace.
