I am after the part number for the thin plastic cap (about 60mm) that you have to remove from the body shell to get to the bolts that hold the body to the chassis (88 460). The dealer could not find them, there is no part number on them and I had given up (Gaffer tape :oops: ).. but now I find this;

http://cgi.ebay.de/Mercedes-G-GE-GD-6x-Karosserieabdeckung-Bodylift-Einb...

26 Euros for 6 bits of 0.5mm plastic that cost all of 50p max for MB :shock: ... so they do exist .. but what is the part number?

.. oh and hint .. when you put the body back down on the chassis... make sure the bolts/washers are in the middle of the hole.. not sure what it will do wrong but sure it will not help having body 20mm offset at the rear .. another "redo" job :roll:

The part nr is A 381 997 1486. (check with your dealer first.)
Price about 2 euro each including VAT.
Your dealer can find these parts in the epc if he looks for them in the 461 section.

Thanks Wout .. you saved my skin again. (and wallet... 26 Euros!!!)

Dealers follow EPC which does not always lead to enlightenment ;-) .. the partsmen rotate so quickly they never even find a concept of a 461 parts lists :-( .. never been one near an Aberdeen Dealer I'm sure .. they are not exactly large..

Well, at least they don't reply to you what they said to a fellow Club member... "We don't do G-Wagens, Sir"... stuff them!

Re: Caps in body for chassis bolts

8.50 for 6 plugs (in Germany so 1 week) from UK Dealer beats the £19 + P&P from German ebay.
£42 for pair front mudflaps without mounting brackets
£200 for inner wing liners (463)

I had a bracket clamped on the front chassis tube behind the front wheel .. which I presumed was for mudflaps.. .but mudflaps seem to be clamped to bodyshell .. so not sure what that was for.. only existed on the driver's side.
