G-wagen restoration complete in Cyprus
yes ... finally my 1983 300GD SWB Auto (Turbo by STT) is finally finished and it's looking perfect !!
In a few words, this is what I've done ...
Removed all rust spots (not many to be fair) and repainted
Replaced radiator, oil-cooler, added auto transmission cooler
Replaced visco fan with 17" Kenlowe electric fan
Replaced 12" MB A/C fan with Kenlowe 13" fan
Replaced A/C condenser with original part for G-wagen (was told it was the last one from the factory)
Replaced ageing fog-lamps front and rear
Replaced retrofitted interior carpet with original rubber flooring (Offroading Cyprus dust and carpeting do not go together)
Replaced worn drivers seat base fabric with factory new
Replaced bolts and washers
Replaced illuminated gearshift module with new.
Replaced gearshift rubber boots (were torn and heat, dust and water were entering the cabin)
Extended front bumper mounts to accommodate transmission oil-cooler
The result is the engine is now more free revving and will cruise all day effortlessly at 4500 rpm. Overheating under load and high speed is a thing of the past (hope it stays that way) and generally the car has been totally revitalised.
In the process I've learned a lot (although this is the 3rd car I've restored) and can now do most things on my own.
Will post some pictures soon.
Thanks to all for advise and feedback during these past few months !!!!

your not helping the dunce cap situation here
Hi Pambos, I've just bought a place in Droushia and am thinking of exporting my G to Cyprus to save cost of car hire. I'm out 6th Dec for a week. Where are you based? Daley
Hi from Greece (kalimera),
well done, I am looking forward to see your photos. I am also close to the end of my projject and I hope 2nd of January my G will be on the road ready for fight! I will put photos from mine as well.
Cheers Angelos
Hi Pambos, how easy is it to export my G to Cyprus. I may want to take it there rather than rent everytime I visit. Where would I get a ferry from, and how "above board" do I need to be? Cheers Daley
As a EU citizen you have the right to import a vehicle of your choice to cyprus. Are you talking permanent or temporary import. You can have any form anyway.
check below web site

There is no duty for EU citizens, according to the web site.
c'mon alexis...... :!:
i think i will be in cyprus by the time you sort the photos out

I think Hussein means 23 Dec to 2 Jan. I plan to be in Cyprus so we can arrange to meet.
I'm trying to put together the best photos at different stages and post.
