Re: Radiator removal

Common problem with horizontal tubes on that radiator, it is easy to remove for a recore. Take the sump guard off, remove all the oil cooling lines from the radiator and tie them up high somewhere in the engine bay so you don't lose too much oil/transmission fluid. Drain the cooling system with the tap at the bottom left of the radiator, take the top and bottom hose off and the fan shroud and then after you have removed the fixings from the top of the rad it will come out easily.

Re: Radiator removal

Hi Griff you have the radiator out back flush the engiine block with the garden hose..be gentle with the heater tubes (low pressure).sediment collects in the water galleries like sand and will pass back into your rebuilt radiator if you do not flush...use Water Wetter as the additive along with antifreeze when you put the system back together...Note: if the engine got very hot flakes of limescale will come out during flushing use a clean container to collect the flush water...you will be surprised

I think I saw your G the other day. I was over near Whitby with the family & my 5 year old daughter spotted a nice white 463 parked by the side of a road near some workshops ? Can't quite remember exact place but maybe Staithes ?

Was that yours?

Seen around Whitby

It could of been me Hot66 I use mine around the area on the weekend its great for the grandchildren to look over the high hedges and finding car parks in the town (I live in the town) the SWB fits into small spaces.
It is a white 463 "K" reg it has a Black Sheep Brewery wheel cover on. We must meet up some time.
The heating problem only comes to light when I climb some of the 1 in 4 hills aroung the place but never crossed the 100o mark but I must sort it.
Good feedback from everyone, I wouldn't have back flushed the system I will now.
