I have 2 pipes on the back of my cylinder head over the bellhousing. One tube is maybe 6mm, the other 4mm. They curl from between the oil filter housing and head to behind the head and end up just short of the exhaust manifold. They nearly seem to interfere with the throttle linkage. They are pretty securely bolted down in metal with zinc plating once.

I am guessing they are vent tubes for wading. The vent tubes for the transfer box and both axles end up at a vent cap at the passenger shock tower (RHD). The gearbox (5spd manual Getrag) has a 3" bit of 6mm tube that stops just over the bellhousing on passenger side which I am presuming should go to one of the pipes at the back of the head. Not sure what the other tube is for; engine? If they are vent tubes how should they connect?

Any guidance for 1988 300GDS? :?

Re: Vent tubes

From what I remember one is from the bell housing and the other is from the rear end of the gearbox - I can check tomorrow.
