I have a small leak at waterpump and am considering removal, new gasket and refit. Given new pumps are reasonable cheap and the hassle of removal, should I replace anyway?

How can I tell if my waterpump is past its best? Is it simply a case of running free? little play in bearings etc?

Your thoughts please.

you may find that a genuine MB one is cheaper, also the 12 months warranty is worth it, found that out when mine went pop 4 months after purchasing it, MB replaced it free of charge in there workshops.
