Original MB 463 fire extinguisher
Help please:
Last week, whilst in Nuernberg, I bought from MB Niedelassung the complete original cradle & fire extinguisher system that fits under the driver's seat of my LHD SWB G500 (05 model). In a fit of optimism & assuming that installation procedure would be obvious, I did not ask for a printout of the EPC picture showing what goes where.
That was a mistake: intuition and common sense are certainly proving highly irrelevant.
Is there a kind soul out there who can either post or PM me the relevant picture?
FYG I have already tried the Russian sites.
Thank you.
I did the same thing. The answer is that you have to drill holes in the floor. MB will make a mess of this for you at a price if you like.
I did not want to drill holes so I enlarged one of the hold in the cradle and took out one of the big bolts at the front of the seat. Mine is now held in place by one bolt. Looks ok though and I have had no problems.
I can post a pic if you like.
It is suppose to go under the rear seat on the drivers side. Mine has pre-drilled holes.... either that or the previous owner kept it... so speaking of which.... how much did it cost?
Sorry forgot you had a 2005.... even though you pointed it out in your post.
Found this one.
Maybe it helps.

question..
i know (in my car's instance) the original position of the (long gone) fire extinguisher is in the compartment underneath the front seat.
wouldn't it be safer to put it somewhere else since the inside of that compartment is always so hot? i always thought that it's not safe to expose the extinguisher to high temperature.

Don't worry too much Schochu, If MB opted for that location you can be only too sure that they balanced the need for having it at hand in case of danger with any other risk associated with it.

Something is not quite right if that spot is getting hotter than the rest of your car.... but if it is a real worry you could always mount it outside the underseat compartment. On mine it is mounted on the back of it under the drivers seat where the rear passengers feet are.
MB mounted the CD-changer under the seat in 2000 LWB G's, and yes it does get quite warm there especially in sunny climes but have faith in their engineering, the CD thing still works after all these years :)

Do you mean underneath the driver's seat in a RHD G? I say this because the heat protection plates located over and above the first stretch of the exhaust need to be in tip top condition in your G300 (notorious for heat generation in this area) if you don't want to feel unordinary heat under the driver's feet....
Oh I should mention that the cd-changer below-seat comment is speaking of a LHD 2000 model, NOT RHD. The jack sits under the other side.
Please do post a picture. It will help.
Many thanks.
