Hello there
Greetings to all G-Wagen maniacs and forum users. I think I'm the first from Portugal to join the GWOA.
I recently (one week) bought a G300E from that great year of 1993 - I was 20 back then. I had a Defender 90 soft top bought new in 2004 and had to trade for a 5 seater. Hope to be a good trade - the G was always on my mind but in Portugal you pay a huge tax on big engines...
The G has some minor problems I hope you will help sorting them out:
The ventilation does not work in I and II position, but is running fine in III and IV...
The electric front lights adjustment isn't working.
The front lights cleaner isn't working.
More, I would like to add a roof rack of some kind but have a height limitation of 20 cm... Any ideas?
Thank you
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase.
If neither the front light cleaner or the light adjustment (assume you mean the manual height adjustment for towing) then perhaps they got disconnected when someone was changing the light?
The fan might be the dial - maybe try taking it apart and cleaning the contacts.

(I am just pulling your leg. The relationship between Portuguese and Spaniards is actually very good).
Anyway Mario, welcome tothe forum and if you want to get in touch with a few of your fellow countrymen who own G-Wagens you may as well try the forum of the Club Mercedes G España:
Cheers!

Hi welcome to GWOA and greetings from Ireland.....
Welcome to the club Mario...
the problems that sound familiar:
- light adjustment on those was pneumatic (vacuum) and not electric, that dial you turn near the steering wheel appears not to do anything? i'm afraid it's normal, the system develops leaks very shortly after production, and to replace it is normally not worth the effort (haven't heard of anyone repairing it either).
- headlight washers: check the pump, it is the larger one fitted on the washer bottle. You can access the washer bottle by removing the right front wheel well cover, or remove the light housing and grill and see if you can feel the motor running when you press the button, and troubleshoot from there. It works in short bursts, about 2 seconds long.
Welcome Mario.
Portugal is a good place to enjoy a G wagon.
I have spent many happy days in Lisboa and suburbs.
Have fun.
