Hi,

I have been given a G-Wagon 280GE sport(i think) for my first car by my dad (He has a Gwagon 280GE LWB and its supposed to have been built for the military but thats another story) But it has a few issues that are minor things(i hope) that id like to get sorted.

Gearbox:

The gearbox is automatic and the light that shows you what gear your in seems to have stopped working so ive managed to get hold of the light bulb and it appears to be dead. So please could someone tell me what type of lightbulb it is please?

Heater, clock, Lights Switches:

Also the lights on all of these have stopped working and i have to attempt to try and get the bulb out. So Can i replace the bulbs for these easily or is it a huge job? If it is fairly easy what type of bulb does that take?

Hope you can help

Many thanks
Joe

Hi Joe what makes it a "SPORT" model???? there are some NON Halfords type bulbs in a Gwagen instrument cluster. assuming that the "dead" bulbs are still in place do a sketch of the locations ...remove the bulbs ...go to a merc dealer and purchase replacements like for like....poor earth contacts around the dash can make you think it is the bulbs but they may come to life when you sort out the earth leads (wires attached to the panel and the metal structure./body of your G') all the bulbs will 12v so you can check each one with a piece of wire connected to one pole of the battery and touching the bulb base or side to the other pole...clean the bulb holders with switch cleaner before refitting the bulbs....if your dad has the same model G' use his as the test bench...bulb for bulb......if he will let you !!!!!

Hey!

Thanks alot for the reply... I will try what you said...But i can't use the other Gwagon as its slightly different on the inside etc(different buttons for winches etc) and plus my dad would say NO lol.

Not a clue what makes it a sport...Its shorter wheel base one and it has "sport" written on the side in some "fancy" writing(doesn't mean it wasn't added on by someone lol)

Thanks again i will try what you said if not i'll get back to you!

Many thanks
Joe
