Hi folks :D

I bought my military 240GD from the ministry two years ago.
Visited Beltring (War and Peace) last year and drove almost 6000km Stavanger - North-Cape in July this year.

The G is an open top 1985 240GD with army-installed power steering!!!.
The truck has some factory-installed special equipment: Webasto DBW46 (4.6kW) diesel burner, electric engine block heater and an additional heat-exchanger between/behind the front seats (option code=H01; "Auxiliary Heater for Norway")
Another useful army-option (D46) is the roof-rack (max.load 200kg)

Here are some pictures from my trip to "the arctic":

The trailer is ex-danish army: 1992 "HMK 1/2 ton GS" with Hannibal roof tent.

Re: Greetings from sunny Stavanger

Thank You Twodogs!

Sorry - don't know about any danish dealers
only this one in Germany http://padh.de/images/stammblatt/2007/ganhang_1.jpg

And you are absolutly right - the heaters are truly fantastic.
Didn't need them much at Beltring last year. Someone told me that it hadn't been that HOT since 1911 (39 deg. C !!!)

Some more pictures of the trailer here.
I have installed a homemade slideout with a two-burner propane stove.

Re: Greetings from sunny Stavanger

Hi skjohans, and welcome.

Thanks for sharing pics, what a great set up you have there. You wouldn't believe how many times some of us have gathered round the "campfire" (well, a few tins of beer) and talked about very similar set ups.

Good to see the roads haven't changed much  ,over the years, was in North Cape in 1981.

Anyway, i feel another trip coming on, about time we got some G's up to North Cape :D ..

Re: Greetings from sunny Stavanger

I seem to remember Bill Moss has a military G, but not same spec as these two. His is ex-MoD UK, a five-door station "wagen", one of a few they used for special "tasks" in BAOR and thereabouts ;)

Re: Greetings from sunny Stavanger

I know Bill is planning something of "super wolf" ,

But the five door G that was rebuilt by Bill belongs to the IWM and is now posted to the Int corp Musium,
in my opinion the cold war musium at Cosford would be a better home for it under cover and in the dry .

Re: Greetings from sunny Stavanger

Hello again y'all. :D
Camping gear Twodogs? Well I carry only the basics; a table, chairs,
lots of clothing and sleeping bags. Clothing are packed in water- and
dust-proof plastic boxes on the trailer as shown in the picture below.
I also carry two coolers - one 50 litre for the beer :D and a smaller one
for the food. I have a small 250W Honda DC generator to power these when
stationary.
Mark - the roads have improved since '81. The road you see in the picture
above is the old road ~500meter (1500ft) amsl. across the Finnmark Platau.
It was replaced by a new road in 1966 due to heavy snow conditions in
the winter and has not been maintained since.
