Does anyone know what the correct part number would be for a 110v electric engine block heater for an 86 280GE?

Re: engine block heater

Thank you for the suggestion. I have checked with them but unfortunately they do not seem to have a product for any 460 series Mercedes.

Re: engine block heater

Hi I am not aware of a block heater that is specially for the M110/280ge engine....there are various models of aftermarket heaters from 10w to 45w.we fit them to our deicer vehicles simply by inserting one inline in a flexible hose run (low down) as heat rises and power it from a 240v supply with a protection c/b in the neutral line.....

Re: engine block heater

Why not pay up a bit and buy a webasto/eberspacher engine heater? they run off petrol or diesel with a timer so are completely contained..... you can use them anywhere? they were fitted to 460s as an extra cost option.

Wrong! you can find the heaters for the OM617, OM603 and M103 here:

Block heaters and much cheaper, more environmentally friendly and more reliable than the webasto/eberspacher engine heaters. You only need a power cord to use them...

Re: engine block heater

agreed...sort of morty.....
firstly you feel that the plug it into the mains option is greener, but how was that electricity produced ? and what losses were there in transmitting that power, suddenly not as green as you may have thought. also it can only be used when you have an electrical socket to plug into....
these g things are go anywhere vehicle and bearing in mind some of your mountain trip pics in the snow old boy....what a shame to not be able to use your preheater to keep warm during your liunch stop or in the morning when you step out of the lovely rustic hotel?

Re: engine block heater

Thanks to all who have offered suggestions and my apologies for not being more precise in relation to heaters for 460 series petrol engines. I understood that block heaters were a relatively popular Mercedes option in colder climates - both in the G series and the sedans, but have not been able to find any info on the part number - my neighbourhood Merc dealer suggests that they may be able to get it if I can tell them the part number - catch-22.

Re: engine block heater

Good day to all.
As to my knowledge there is an DC heater kit available for the M110 engine in 220 Volt and 110 Volt.
The SA nr is 12 228 and the part number for the 110 Volt is
A 601 200 00 96 or A 601 200 01 96
You can find this part in your EPC in group 20 (Cooling) if you switch the filter of the EPC off.
If I remember correctly these parts are rather expensive.
