biodiesel @ 52p per litre
According to her Majesty's Customs & Excise earlier today.
I am not required to pay the duty on Biodiesel when purchased for my own use and purchasing less than 2500 litres per year.
They are to send me written confirmation of this.
Fingers crossed
So no nonsense with straight vegetable oil.
Cheers
Marcus
If you are purchasing biodiesel then the manufacturer will have paid duty. If you are making it yourself you are not required to pay duty on less than 2500 litres per year.
Straight veggie oil is actually a grey area - as technically its not a biodiesel. In theory it needs to be altered to comply.... would be interesting to see what your letter says when you get it.
Now I'm confused... are you confusing biodiesal and veggie oil?
Shame we're not closer together or else we could pool our resources.
might treat her to a bit of extra virgin Spanish olive oil,
nothing but the best for her.
Don't even try it! Great for eating raw, in salads or even for frying fish, but no good for my OM603-powered GWagen!
Sunflower oil is da thing!
Yep Max,
I made it absolutely clear when I spoke to their representive,
that I wished to purchase in bulk, but for personal use & not exceeding 2500 litres per year
the rep asked me to wait while she sought clarification,
she came back some considerable time later and stated that whilst I would still be required to pay the VAT, I should be able to purchase Biodiesel duty free.
Still no written confirmation, though I suppose they got 21 days to reply.
My potential supplier sells at 85p, but most locals go over the border and purchase proper diesel at 75p sterling.
He is taking advantage of the current derogation in that Mr Farmer brings him 8 tonne of Rapeseed, hires his plant to process same, and takes away 5 tonne rapemeal and 2500 litres biodiesel.
So the plant owner is not the "producer" as he never owns constituants or finished product. If needs be I can "purchase" my rapeseed locally and work the same way, "selling" the meal back.
Fingers crossed.
