For the last couple of mornings my 280 seems to have a flat battery. You turn the key and it barely cranks. However, if you turn it again and repeat the process it gradually seems to gain power and eventually starts.

Any ideas?

If I need a new battery can anyone suggest good makes? I am looking for something with a long life and plenty of oomph.

Thanks.

Re: Battery

Go on Tayna.co.uk battery supplier and get a Varta Blue range battery which is v powerful and long lasting. They are better than the OEM Varta ones fitted when new.

Re: Battery

Cant argue with Varta as a brand,
though I did have a brand new one be completely useless= no charge nor take any charge.
Re "longevity" I suspect that the duty cycle, charging voltage etc may have more to do with battery life expectancy than battery brand, cheap batteries/ brands excepted.
As in the original battery that I replaced the Varta with as above had done 8 years mid 1998 to mid 2005. and had been completely discharged when camping ( more than once  ) and been jumpstarted and been repeatedly used to start tractor etc etc, so not an easy life.
Cheers anyway
