Since i have imported my 240GD ex military soft most of the work has been towards getting it on the road in the UK .
replace back box ,
adjust wheel bearings ,
bleed the brakes ,

Now the fun starts :D big boys mods ,
3 inch lift done ,

Having brought PPs , rolled 280 loads of bits come to the party,
transfer box driven PTO ,,fitted
hydrulics and electrics to fit to run a Milemarker winch ..soon .
goodridge braided brake hoses ...to fit .
front CV joint is clicking ..replace very soon .
rear brake cylinders to be replace ...soon

May go sand paint finish for the summer season :?

Theres a set of alloys with 35 inch simexs fitted to big for my G ( dont panic Harold i have read your posts  ) but there going on just for a photo op , then look for somthing more in keeping with the military theme ,, Michelin ,,XCL or XZLs 750r16 on steel rims .

When all the work is done i hope to end up with a reliable G for trips on the trail with loads of charictor :D

Then of course there is all the fun of tie down points for recovery gear and camping swag ...this project will keep me entertained for yonks :D

Re: Mods to the soft top

The Mods carry on ,

Transfer box removed and a transfer box with a PTO ( power take off ) fitted this drives a pump to run the hydrulics,

Bumper removed and a winch tray for a milemarker fitted , nice and tight into the body , need to watch the approch angle :D .
a standard bumper will be cut a slides over the tray keeping the G look 8) .

loads of pluming to do next plus fitting the oil tank and winch electrics ,
but concidering the rain we are having in England the project moves on ... :D

Re: Mods to the soft top

The fun goes on,
sorted out the clicking CV that turned of to be Knackered wheel bearing as well , Cheers Bill for the bearings and Simon for the special tool .
The PTO driven mile marker is now wired in to run from the cab , can wait to use that .
and one of the rear storage boxes has been moved to above the rear wheel arch that is normaly dead space , very usefull for recovery gear .
bit more tidying inside and its ready for the trail

Re: Mods to the soft top

Where did you get the G90s from? I am thinking that 750 x 16 could solve the 5.5 rim issue. I am thinking of xzls, but they ain't cheap.
