This evening after walking the Dog I ended up on top of a huge pile of earth on a building site...reason being my Daughter (11) thinks the G and off roading are un-cool and I like to annoy her  She did get cross stuck on the top of the pile and the Police Helicopter coming over to have a look...hey maybe we will star on Police Camera Action
Any way the only way down is to reverse, but I could not engage reverse without stalling got down OK just on the brakes.
Question is what's the trick to this :? :?

Re: Reversing

With the engine off put it in to reverse let clutch out and turn over engine on the starter. Engine will start and you will decend under control.
PS put it in low range

Re: Reversing

No prob's, same technique can be used in one of the most dangerous situations.
Where you have a failed accent on a steep slippery hill and you have managed to stall the engine. Get that wrong and you can have an uncontrolled decent in neutral or relying on the brakes which will probably end in tears!!

Re: Reversing

Had my first chance to try this out today and it works a treat. We went to a quarry and had a mega playtime :D :D :D
I've greenlaned, but never tried anything too tricky in case I got stuck. I was practising this on a ridiculus slope used by KTM bikes once I got into the swing the G did everthing I pointed it at :D :D The Diff locks are the biz even with 50/50 tyres on I was getting up and down slopes I could not even stand on with out slipping. God they're good! Took me a bit to get up courage to drive down the slopes the temptation to use the brakes is very strong when you can't see any road in front as you go over. And balencing on oposite wheels FAB.
I'm so pleased with my old girl she can have an oil change and a wipe with a damp rag :D :D
