124 turbo on a 123 diesel

I know the diesels in the merc sedans are also used in the G's...or as far as i know this is true.
I have a 1980 merc wagon,a 123. I have the opportunity to buy a cheap brand new merc 124 turbo.
If these engines are interchangable,Im presuming that people here have therefore dealt with these engines.
So...the question,will a 124 diesel turbo fit a 123 diesel turbo?
Thanks.

Re: 124 turbo on a 123 diesel
How have you come accross a 124 turbo in Oz? I thought that they were LHD only.
You could put the engine in a G and it would be good
Well after a bit of research the answer is no...the manifolds are differant.
But I wonder if the manifolds are the same on a G as a 123. Maybe the manifold of a G is differant and can be swapped over onto a 123. Might be a little tight for space as the steering box is close to the manifold on a 123.
If anyone is after a Gen Merc 124 turbo, let me know.
