Hi all I've been away camping...yep I had the stormy week!!!!

I did manage to get everything in and on the G..well had to put a bit in the boat! But 5 people one dog and Diving/Snorkling Kit for all.G managed the weight well and was excellent on the wet sand when launching and recovering the boat. Also the G proved proficient at putting the fear of God into all those X3 and X5 Owners who insisted on speeding blind round those narrow Devon lanes   :twisted

Re: Grendle's been Camping

Hus you have me worried!
Peter, I will do some research as I've never Camped or Launched at Dartmouth, although I've sneaked in ( they charge ££'s) to watch the regatta fireworks many a time by sea and picked up a cheeky free mooring up river for the night. It is a beautiful estuary navigable up to Totnes. The Chap I got my G off used to camp and use Dartmouth with his Ski boat so I'll give him a bell and get back to you.

''seeing as your from devon''

Oh yes just in case there is any mis-understanding I'm a Yorkshireman born and bred just down here helping run the place!

Re: Grendle's been Camping

Anyway boys!

Been in touch with the chap who introduced me to the wonderful world of G Wageons (he bought a Trooper!!).
He used to Camp at Little cotton Caravan Park http://www.littlecotton.co.uk/

Which he recommends. He launched his boat at the public slip near the higher ferry, but used to take G & Trailer back to the Campsite as he thought parking was rather expensive and catch the Park and Ride back to the slip! (OK if someone can stay with the boat) Harbour Dues were reasonable, but could be "avoided" by careful timing! No he is not tight, he's carefull!
Hope this info is of some use.

Its all good fun, I spend most of my summer days on my boat in Poole harbour and Studland bay, same thing applies get as close to the water as possible, launch boat with disapproving looks from locals and then fight for a car parking space within 2 miles and run back to make sure the boat has not floated away or had the motor nicked, Its quite relaxing this boating business :D

Re: Grendle's been Camping

Off the beaten track...the best place to be, damm Grockels (tourists), even in the G you can touch the hedges on both sides! Hazardous driving with the windows open.Passing places are often too small to allow large cars to pass and Boy is it fun when you're towing a boat and you meet a Grockel with a Caravan!!! This is why the Zaffie has been suplimented by the G...it can make its own passing places! Still makes for an interesting time when an X3 screams round the blind corner..too arrogant to slow down...swerves in clipping the hedge not realising the banks made of stone, what a loverley crunch!!!!
