engine number
where do i find the engine number on my 2000 g55?
not on v5, and have not got data card.
I do not know where the number is, but you should be able to ask your local M/Benz dealer to give you a copy of data card. You may have to do this with the pretense of purchasing something from them, other wise they will deny this can be done.
All they need is the chassis number, this can be got from the Parts department, not Service, who will not entertain you request at all.
I am not sure if they will entertain this request, because, when I used to ask for the same information, a few years ago now, they were reluctant to give me the info., I had to urge it out of them.
Alternatively, ask your local Garage, most garages subscribe to Autodata, the vehicle data houses for the Motor Trade, their data books will show the reference point for the engine number to be found.
Hi try putting your VIN number onto the Russian website "accessed under Technical on this forum" at best you will get a number.... at worst it won't tally with the one on the installed engine block rgds
ask david watkins
Don't the AMGs have a special plaque on top of the engine with the number and the signature of the builder? Or is that only on the newer ones?
Many thanks Rakesh,
Local MB dealer very helpful faxed copy of data card.
Info on Autodata is from the dvla so only what is on the v5
Had tried David but he did not know.
