Has anybody ever replaced their headliner? just wondering how hard it is to do.

Also does anybody here have a 99/00 G with just a monotone headliner in either grey or black? I need to replace mine and I have the black and white check headliner which is a little ugly. If so could you please give me either a part number or your chasis number so I can try and order one.

Thanks.

Re: headliner

If it is a 463 with sunroof, taking out the front and rear section is not too bad. The bottle neck is the s/roof area.

If it is a 460, it is still a big job, in my opinion. I think you do need to remove the panels on the side also before you can release the lining.

But other than that I can not give technical help on this. Sorry.

Re: headliner

Any ideas on how hard it is to just replace the sunroof bit as I've torn it. Thanks

From vaigue memory, slide open the s/roof, remove the small screws fastened on to the slide strips either side. Use a small tin box i.e tabacco tin or something similar to contain the tiny screws, you do not want to loose these.

Half close the s/roof and from the front, pull down, the lining to the s/roof, followed by, pulling down the rest of the section. This is held with sticky pads of velcro which may need replacing or reglueing, fitting back on again.

That takes care of the s/roof lining, I do not think you need to remove the metal part of the s/roof to remove the rest of the lining, just remove all the strips holding onto the lining material. There is not a lot of material at these edges and is very is to rear as you probably have found out. Treat this area gently.

I cannot remember much on how to remove the lining after that, but it should be just the rods tucked on the side of the roof channel that need springing out. I have a nagging feeling this is a little more stiffer to remove compared to the front and rear section.

Tati bye for now,
