I know a couple of people here had there windows tinted from Pentagon. Just wondering what sort of prices you were quoted? I'm being told nearly £900 which seems a little steep.

Also just wondering how happy you were with the job.

Re: Pentagon Tinting

pentagon are very expensive compared i think. i found this place on ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pro-Tinting-Service-Modified-Civic-Corsa-Golf-Saxo...

worth a try for a quote.

pentagon is good, but do feel that they are a bit ambitious with their quotes sometimes!

Ian - before you were talking about reinforcing the glass against break-ins - is that price for the impact resistant supaglass stuff or normal tint?

Anyone have an idea how smash resistant the normal tint stuff is?

The reason I was leaning to Pentagon is I have heard that a lot of the cheaper places tend to peel after awhile.

Re: Pentagon Tinting

thanks for the advice alexis,BUT ONE SMALL PROBLEM

our government will not allow window tinting :!: well at least not when i was living out there 8 years ago.

the mot inspector would run a key over the film if the window looked too dark.

shhhhh..... :!: :!:

dont mention this in the south, they may start doing the same

cypriots north and south are the same skada

they all have a "kafa gulumbara!!"

My SLK has pentagon tint that has been on since it was new in 2001 and is wearing well, no scratches or lifting at all, never had any probs with the cops either and it is on all the windows including a sunstrip on the windscreen. Cost in 2001 for that small car job was £450.

Unfortunately the problem is even Pentagon pricing seems to be highly elastic....

Re: Pentagon Tinting

Anyone familiar with http://www.johnsonwindowfilms.com/SAFEA.php# ?

I can get it installed for about £500 - a lot better value than the £550 that Pentagon is quoting me for regular tint.

But I am going to have to query that since everyone else with a G that I have spoken to paid a lot less than that.

Re: Pentagon Tinting

Is there a way to find the part numbers for the various tint options?

I'm seeing A460 671 02 10 as the stock clear screen.

Then - A460 671 05 10 as heat absorbing green tint.

I'm pretty sure theres a one with a brown tinge and possibly a green or blue tint along the top?

I'm not getting a lot of help from local MB who seem determined to tell me that stock clear screen is the only screen available that they can guarantee will fit my vehicle?!...

I'd certainly like a bit better choice...

I have water getting in so do need to get this attended pretty quick - but would like a bit more choice...

Any help guidance welcome...

Re: Pentagon Tinting

Hi

Both those will fit your vehicle for sure

Your vehicle has the standard clear screen from the factory

The Green tint was fitted as standard from the following years production

Axel's 280 (OM606) has the Green tint version from factory to look at if you need

They are you only options on all but the very late 463's, so all 460 / 461 / 463 series

Thanks very much for this.

Now that I've had the frighteners put on me about the likely behaviour of the local MB dealers if the aperture is not squeaky clean after the removal of the old screen - I'm on the lookout for a local body shop (South Devon) - who could replace the screen and effect the necessary remedial works if required.

Of course I don't know that there'd be rot under there - but after 15 years - best be prepared I reckon...

Anyone who's had good experience with a body shop around my area - please do tell...
