AMG 55 Kompressor engine on ebay
No good with ebay links but it is on there for £5000 from an SL55 with 30,000 miles on it, even has a 3 month guarantee!! Could be fun to put in a project car 8)

If the vehicle has been written off then the company will want the remote fobs back . Without the fobs you will not get it running. If you go to MB and request a new ECU or remote fobs they will not sell you one. You could end up with a 476HP boat anchor.
lol, I have only got a little avon rubber boat so I would need another one to transport the anchor. Good point though the ECU's and stuff would be a nightmare. We used to have Nissan Motorsport HQ opposite us at work and when they moved they had an all alloy V8 brand new in a crate intended their version of the Paris - Dhakar Shogun type car, very tempting but again would have been a mare to wire it up and get it working. Shame really they only wanted a few hundred quid for that.

there are stand alone programable freindly ECUs available from the likes of megasquirt, emerald, omex and dta you can find them all on ebay 8)
I have a friend who has put a Range Rover 4.6 engine into an off road kit car and his solution was to take off all electrics and fit carbourettas instead!! Goes like f**k but not very original, wouldn't put carbs on an AMG but will look into standalone ECU if not too difficult.
Surely the keys are with it? I would imagine that the owner returned them with car. Someone should ask the seller, just don't look like a wheel kicker.
I don't see what MB's problems is if you can prove it was a bonafide purchase.
You would be surprised what MB can have a problem with, I have been dealing with them for years and their first response is usually "no", followed by this is "highy irregular" and eventually a disgruntled "yes" I know the dealer principal from our local one and have had to play that card a few times over minor issues, they usually perk up a bit then :twisted:
ecu for one of those, around £2500 from various companys, programmable too. :P

so this engine is the same as what they put in the g wagens yeh?
