I would like to know whats required on the vehicle to turn it into a deisel, firstly what engine should i look for to replace the 230 and what else would i have to change on the g. Is the petrol tank one thing that needs changing, thanks in advance.

Re: The best engine for the job

hi bill,a diesel transplant should be quite easy.i also had a 230 GE cabrio that was proving to thirsty. i had a 6 cylinder 300 diesel fitted in n-cyprus.it was a bit of a challenge but was done really well.nothing was changed od modified.i think your best bet is a 5 cylinder diesel as fitted to the 300GD and also fitted the w123 saloons up to 1986.

good luck.
