MB Leather Interior Install
Some pictures of the leather seat covers I have put in my G Wagen. I bought a W124 interior for £300 in the same mushroom colour as the trim
in the G and retro fitted the front centre arm rest, and rear headrests as I didn't have them at all before. Also replaced the saggy luggage nets on the seatbacks with the ruffled leather (fits straight over from the other car) I am quite pleased with the look so far and the seat covers should settle down after a bit of use, I am also pleased that I managed to put it all in without cutting or damaging the original interior so the fabric seats are frozen in time underneath.
I got more than I bargained for when I bought the bits I sent a courier for it and they bought back half a car  dashboard, seats and all the W124 interior trim, carpets, mats etc so I will take them to the merc breakers and swap for something useful. I have got loads of that beige vinyl from the trim parts if anybody wants any for small repairs in that colour, might keep some of the carpet too as could come in handy later.
(You will see in the pics that the door trim is still the fabric, I have got the leather for this but havn't been arsed to put it on yet as its a pain to take the doorcards off)
beautifull job
well done draxey :!:
the fronts look very original, but i am suprised with the rear seat :!:
looks ok, but doesn't seem the same size as the 463 back plate
but well attemted all the same
Very Very well done, I love to see this sort of thing, parts-bin sharing etc.
Nice one
:D very well done again draxey
 dont listen to hussain as he didnt try it
:x BUT that big bluespot sticker on the front windscreen has to GO
keep up the good work
Looks good Draxey.
Marcus
look foneman(chris), stop stirring trouble :) the forum has had a track record for no slagging off matches recently :!: :!:
if draxey likes what he's done thats all that counts,i was only giving my friendly opinion, unlike 50 people that have read what this members done and NOT EVEN BOTHERED MAKING A COMMENT :!:
opinions and advice is free mate, and i stated i did not mean to offend.
i also have the matching rear seat to my front recaros in my cabrio, but i couldnt decide wether to do what draxey did or just retrim the rear seat using the material.
good luck draxey once again :!: you have done well with that conversion and its all mercedes parts unlike my" rover 800 recaros :!: "
i will end up retrimming my recaros and rear bench in the wide grey check i think in the end.....thanks for sharing the pics, always nice to see mods.
Well done , real nice job.
So you left the original covers in place and stripped the seats you bought which were leather to achieve the look. Do you mind me ask why not change the whole seat if the size was the same and rebolt on to your G runners?
I thought w124 and 463G were the same seat but different subframe?
If this is a sily question please excuse my ignorance as I would love to attempt the same for similar money.
Regards,
Mike

I'm gonna hazard a guess and say its an SWB therefore the seats need to tip forward unlike a w124.........
Draxey
Looks Fab, job well done.
Does anyone have experience of fitting leather to a 460?
Nigel
Hoping to at some point Nigel, don't know when that'll be..............welding/painting the current priority.........not creature comfort....... :(
you keep the tilting base of the original seat and mount the w124 seat onto that.should be straightforward seeing as though i fitted non mercedes recaros in mine.
draxey you have done the job well and saved money doing it yourself :!:
your right about the base too.
i remember a company advertising in the OFF ROAD AND FOURWHEEL DRIVE magazines of the 80's a seat base for most suv's that fitted in between the seat base and frame,it was a floating system as seen on luxury coaches.it even made a SI land rover SMOOTH
now theres a thought......
I would love to see the pics and try give it a go
....
Looks great, thanks for sharing the information.
Thanks guys nice to hear you like them, the back seats were the most difficult bit as when you look at the G seats they are very thin and they fold vs a huge sofa style one in the saloon car. Has come out nice and comfy though so looking forward to the summer as I spend alot of time in the G (usually sleeping off some vodka redbull's on the back seat :P )
p.s Foneman there is a matching Blaupunkt sticker in the back window  I wasn't sure at first but I have grown quite attached to them
