Re: Front seats

they are not as deep as my recaros and so easier to get in and out of especially with the lift on your G.

£199 for the pair?

Re: Front seats

£199 each. You have to buy the mounting kit as well from Greiner. TBR UK are the UK agent. ORC sell them as well. You can leather and electric options to.

Re: Front seats

I swapped out my old worn seats with a set from an 98 SLK. they are manual seats and fit perfectly with minor rail modification.

Very comfortable.

Micheal did you go for the Rover 800 seats? Did they(or do they Huss) fit on without modification. My seats are alittle flat to say the least it would be good to have a cheap quick fix.

Re: Front seats

they need a plate made up about 30cm long and about 6cm wide so as to widen the base of the G'S SEAT FRAME .

i guess you will need help if you lack equipment but not hard to do at all.

good luck and go for it,the driving improvement is G-reat!!!!

Re: Front seats

The 460 G was offered with Recaro seats, first as an accessory (ordered after delivery) and then part of the vehicle execution.

Mine has them as part of the vehicle execution and the fabric matches the rest of the upholstery, which is nice !

You can order them from the factory (they can be found in the MB EPC), but I don't know about availability and also according to my experience you need to order also the metal frame and all accessories needed to fix the seats. Otherwise, on the SWB, the seat fouls/scratches the central console (the transmission plastic cover) when folded for rear entry.

The seats are very comfortable (more so than in my other MB's) and is an upgrade I would recommend.

I could post some pictures, but I've started working on my G and it's stripped in my garage.

Re: Front seats

hello alexis, have you seen the interior of my cabrio :?: those seats fit my cypriot figure better than the original recaros in my 280GEL :D
I am going get the original trim for the centre area so it matches the door panels.although the seats are wider in my cabrio they did go in without cutting the centre consol, although my brother went to several bodyshops and all said "they wont fit!!" :?

when i went to n-cyprus last summer i went straight to my friend in gonyeli(outside nicosia). he makes bespoke exhausts and radiators and is a brilliant iron monger.

well he fitted them in half a day and the only place it fouls is when the seats are folded the front doors wont shut because the side bolsters touch the door handles.

but on the whole, well worth the money and effort.they only cost me £120 off ebay including the rear seat aswell.

Re: Front seats

anythings possible.but i would say wait till you find the right model.

the old vauxhall cavalier sri recaros are slim and almost a copy of the G recaro.then its a case of finding someone that likes a challenge.

Re: Front seats

Hussein, you refer to your Cypriot figure :-) ... reminds me of a G owner here who's G was fitted from new with the "factory" Recaros. His nickname is "Kole" which means his rear-end is his distinguished feature. He's very happy with the seat comfort.

Re: Front seats

comfort is great alexis,no doubt about that(i brought my 280 GEL because of the recaros!!) but they are a little narrow in the seat area, obviously for technical reasons.we will compare seats this summer hopefully.

by the way i am not fat,but "heavy boned...."as us cypriots say.!

Re: Front seats

Hi Grendle i had no luck at the car breakers. I could not find any seats that just slide onto the original seat runners, when i do i will post on this site (Rover 600 seats looked the closest)

Re: Front seats

i am rubbish on the net
but i still manged to find ebay and click onto recaro and find alot of seats, from crap to top dollar.

my cabrio had the old seats and rails removed and the square base of the folding seat frame was widened to accomodate the wider recaros.

what i mean to say is that you will not be using the mercedes seat rails

keeping browsing guys......

this is another G with recaros;

Re: Front seats

Hi Peter,

I understand Merc do the Foam and Cloth you'll need. Someone will no doubt reply with all the details. I've not touched mine yet ( I was waiting for it to pass the MOT, it did (ish) now I'm waiting for spare cash!) so I'll be interested if you go the refreb route.

Re: Front seats

I've already been gifted a set out of a cavalier sri mark 3 so attempting to fit them.

Have tacked 'L' brackets on to the seat runners and was going to secure them on to the original sub frames via lengths of flat bar. However, the seats sit far too high like this and cant think of any other way of dropping them down enough.

Back to the drawing board....
