Dear Gurus,
I have 230G with a 4 speed gear box. On long hauls, I used to run it at around 80kms/hr at around 3000RPM then it gets uncomfortably loud. Lately, I tried taking her higher and went up to 100kms/hr to 110kms/hr at 4000RPM and it seems to have gone across the resonance peak and gets all quite and comfortable again.
I have standard tyres and are reanosably balanced, I think the sound comes from the engine rather than the tyres.

I read sometime ago that over revving can shorten the life span of the engine ... question is what is considered over revving.
Any advise is appreciated?

Jeff

Re: Confort REVs at high speed

The top power of your engine comes between 5,000 and 5,250 revs and the top speed must be close to 6,000 revs, so I don't really see a problem if you ocasionally cruise at 4,000. Just keep the engine oil in good shape at all times.
