My 230’s diff lock wouldn’t switch off. I only put it on for a bit of mud, nothing serious when out playing with a friend today, now it wouldn’t switch off. I tried going forward and back, turning the wheel, jack it up and taping it with a hammer. No luck, it stays on. Any advice, my wife will kill me if she must go to work on Monday driving the CLK

Try opening te bleed nipple slightly to allow the pressure to release.

Hi LEEU check the hydaulic fluid level in the reservoir (in front of the battery) no oil ...no work ... look for a leak either under the reservior or half way along the chassis leg (near side) perished hose...change hose fill with fluid ..push the knobs in the centre console down and up again two or thee times ...you need a solid line of oil for each difflock to activate..might need to bleed each one once you have a full reservior

Thanks for the advice. I opened the nipple and drove it a bit, closed it and it turned off. Peter I have no reservior infront of the batery, the empty remains of one is there however. I always wondered what that reservoir was for. The locks have been working fine without it for at least 3 years of a lot of use. At least now I can fix it.

My diff lock warning light still stays on, but goes off if I tap the unit with a hammer. Now that I know where the resevior is and how to bleed it, can I simply strip that unit down for a decent clean? Any fiddely bits or tricks with it?

Thanks again for the help.
