On my quest to find my water leak, thought I'd better check with you all that the seam running along the firewall is meant to have an 'open' area just below the steering shaft ?

Re: firewall

That doesn't look quite right but havent got a 463 to hand to check, so other might have to check their cars for comparison

Re: firewall

hi mine is solid along that area. what does it look like in that area on the inside of the floorpan... perhaps it was "engineered"to let the water collecting in the floorpan out!!!

Re: firewall

Mine is a LHD and therefore rather different to yours but it obviously has no holes there

Re: firewall

the waterleak I have is relativley recent as the floorpan beneath the 'wet' carpet is perfect. I'm pretty sure this 'hole' has nothing to do with the leak, but I am still interested to see if others are like this.

The seam is just below where the stearing shaft goes through the firewall so its not been 'engineered' to let water out

Re: firewall

Hi There is a sandwich of fibreous material between the firewall and the bulkhead.it can be seen on 460G vehicles to the rear of the inner part of the front wheel arch since they don't have wheel arch liners, could be you have had some shedding in the area you have identified.if it does not appear to be obvious corrosion, eroded metal or accident damage would just keep an eye on it from time to time.floorpans seem to wear well its the bolts and the base of the seat frame plus the accelerator pedal attachment bracket that show varying degrees of brown stains as does the adjacent carpet when you have long term water ingress....

Re: firewall

Hi,
Almost certain mine is solid in that area.
Just a thought with regard to the leak..... Are the wiper spindles leaking water into the floorpan area??
I'm sure someone has already mentioned this?? But just in case!

Kind Regards
Peter
