Water under drivers mat.
Just checking the G over today and noticed a wetness on the floorplan on the drivers side but it seemed a recent issue as there was no rust at all.could be coming through the door or engine bay?Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
i think i remember this occuring with me, had it been heavily raining and had you just opened the bonnet up?
Check the ventialtion fan airbox(rear of engine) for leaves and other debris blocking the drain hole.
thats what i was going to suggest, happened to me
Worn wiper spindles?
Grab hold of the wiper arm and give it a good waggle. Any lateral movement is not good. £21ish I’ve got one coming from Germany. That’s the easy bit, who knows what fun I’m going to have fitting it

a pain to renew, also try pulling the black plastic cover and fill it with vaseline, thus keepng them lubricated and keeps the water out, to a degree.
Hi look for rust streaks along the exposed metal inside the vehicle at the bottom of the windscreen.with age the rubber holding the windscreen hardens and allows water to seep in behind it. if you lift the outer edge on the outside of the vehicle with a screwdriver you will see an accumulation of dirt. this needs to be removed with a rag wrapped around the screwdriver blade and new windscreen sealant injected right around the windscreen... re the spindles these are held in place with a large nut and washer on the outside. there should be a seal under the washer.if the spindle is loose in the bodyshell hole remove the wiper arm and the nut and washer.. apply bathroom sealer to the area around the hole and on one side of the washer replace and tighten the nut **make sure the spindle body does not rotate when tightening as this will change the geometry of the linkage and overload the motor. If youf ind water in the tray of the centre console the its probably the heater box seals ...talk to Marcus he has rectified this problem. rgds

Is there a posting on this? I've tried a search.....
Jonnyboy,
Yes was quite a bit of tooing and frooing re leaks, I replaced wiper spindels and also "bodged" the air intake box leak in that I power washed all the crud out, and the seams in particular -- allowed it to dry and then carefully sealed with a building repair product -- sold for repairing leaking gutters --even sticks under water, all this done from the outside, but also check the soft rubber drainhoses that run from the bottom of the heater fan housing, the only leak I did not have was a rusty windscreen surround! !
Cheers
Marcus
You could have a look at the grommets on the firewall. There are quite a few and sometimes they are not very tight/leaking or get blown out altogether by high pressure cleaners.
The rubber plugs - some are blank, some are the "ringed" type, where wiring, control cables and linkages pass through the firewall.
Firewall, is exactly what its name says. Originally incorporated in car design to protect driver/passengers from an engine fire, which was rather common in the early years. So, you are right, the part of the body structure which separates the passenger compartment from the engine bay.
shakir was at my house vlast sunday and checked in there but said it was clean. How about the engine steam clean?I also noticed a wetness and dirt biuld up where the seatbelt is attached to the floor and meets the plastic door sills.(a small gap is evident there and its dirty and almost muddy if you know what i mean harry.....!)
