Re: not very likley engine replacements

The MB 3L has alot of electronics and without the donor vehicle would be expensive to buy them.
The 2.9L is the sprinter engine and is good except that one is not turboed
If you found a Musso with the turbo 2.9l that would be a better engine, but it would still be a project to instal. But there are experts on this in the club.

Re: not very likley engine replacements

The 300 is a no-no. The intake manifold gets very intimate with the shock mount :D
The Musso is really a 290 engine with a different gearbox prone to failure. Involves a lot of work and not worth it over a normal old 300gd W460. Only marginally better if at all.
Be cautious with the Musso engines. They are being sold as "Mercedes" engines, but in reality most if not all nowadays are authorized copies with nowhere near the same quality control.

Bit like a Lada being a Fiat really !
I drove one once, well more than once actually
Funny enough like our beloved 460 diesel "G"'s crap performance on road, but excellent in the rough, must say something about the Russian roads !
