Hi. I've got the chance of a peach of a 280 engine from a 280ce, and he has the 'box which is apparently good.
Bearing in mind my potentially high mileage, and ease of swapping the complete assembly, would the autobox from the coupe be okay in my gee?
You can probably tell i don't know much about 4wd (yet!!!!!!!)

Re: Compatible 'boxes?

Check out this website> http://www.gwagen.de/html/english/gearbox.html

Though in that case it's a manual gearbox and the G is a 463, the principle is basically the same: The gearbox will probably look similar, but it will be sufficiently different as to make it a hassle to fit it. Things like the breather pipes with remote end are exclusive of the G-Wagen version. I would think that the easiest is to fit the CE engine to your current gearbox. Mind you, it is a very nice conversion, given that you will gain 30 BHP or so with perhaps slightly better fuel consumption.

Thanks for that. Any one else got any suggestions?
