can anyone tell me do 460 g-wagon have smaller/narrower axels if the were built without the foam/fibreglass arches than those built with the arches ive just had a buyer renage on ebay based on this information not being in the description plus my jeep used to have black interior now it has blue cheque and it used to have steel wheels now it has mb alloy wheels i advertised the vehicle as it is now not as it was twenty feckin years ago. where do i stand with this clown legally and i guess its still for sale
To be honest i,d walk away from him. He would only probably hassle you after the sale about something stupid and leave you negative feedback.
I think, but am not certain that the arches were only an optional extra for when they introduced the MB alloys as they were slightly wider than the original steel wheels. The alloys protruded from the body, hence the arches to cover them.
As for the axles i,m pretty certain they weren,t changed until the 463 came in.
Mortinson is the man to ask, and i,m sure he,ll be along soon to let you know and correct me..
Very early 460s have a different version of the front axle which was changed to the most common one in 1983... but both have the same track width.
Early 463, however, came with two different track widths of 1,425 mm or 1,475 mm, depending on whether they were fitted with the flared wheelarches and the 7x15 alloys or not.
Your G was originally fitted with steel wheels, the wheel arches you have were added after. You can tell by the way the rear wing hangs below the rear wheelarch flares. The rear wings on a g fitted with wheel arch flares are cut higher. This means it also had steel wheels from new too. So the interior could be an issue too. But who cares, if it looks decent I cant see what the problem is with the guy.
