managed to lose my tank after getting airbourne once to often! the straps are stuffed and its held on with ratchet straps, gonna order a set from the main steeler tomorrow. as for the tank guard ? IMHO it appears to be one of the few design faults! water and c++p sits between the two and mine looks pretty bad! was thinking of going for 5/6 mm ali plate . easy enough to get plate and access to engineers shop but after any ideas pics/experinences of making same cheers elvis

Re: tank fixing straps + tank guard!

In my 460 I had a 4mm thick steel plate cut and bent to fit, and I had new screws welded to the straps. I then coated the plate with an Epoxi-based paint and installed it. Anything but resorting to MB parts in this case, where local fabrication brings a better end product and at a much more favourable price...

I don't know where you are going but MB are selling the straps for 8 pounds each plus the vat. The protector is the expensive bit.

Main dealer. The straps are different that is why there are two numbers.

Mine is also a 460. I am sure he said 8 pounds each. Maybe I will have to pay more.
