Would it be possible for someone to lookup some part numbers for me. I got a 'box of bits' with my G.

I realise what some of these parts are (oil seals, bearings etc) but I don't know where they go. Given that I may well be looking at a front axle rebuild in the near future I thought that it would be wise to check what I already have.

So here goes with the list

A 007 997 03 47
A 007 997 04 47
A 460 337 04 85
A 460 994 00 12
A 460 337 00 92
A 460 337 05 59
A 460 337 01 92
A 460 990 02 60
A 460 994 07 41
A 008 981 62 05
A 008 981 59 05

Thanks chaps :)

Re: Part numbers lookup needed

There is no feature to search a part by its part number in the EPC as far as I know.

So the only way is to each of the possible reference numbers of every part in the EPC with each of the numbers in your list..... to much work.

Unless somebody has a better idea!

Although it is rare to find Mortinson getting something about G Wagens wrong - at least some versions of the EPC include the ability to search for parts by number (I know that my DVD version has this ability) It is also available in the price list which came with my EPC. The feature is in the drop down menus at the top of the EPC screen. (I am at work at the moment so can't look them up for you)

As Mortinson suggests the MB Parts and availability website would give you an idea of each part (if the part is still available).

MB Parts & Availability

I hope that this helps.

JMKOZ,

I would love to hear in detail about that feature works... it would be a great help to everyone!

Please drop us a few lines when you have your EPC available.

Cheers

Sorry for the delay in replying.

You can do this from the opening screen without entering a prefix or chassis number. All you do is go to the "Find" option on the toolbar and select "Part Search" (or just hit shortcut key F11) - you then have the option of searching by "part description" (bound to fail I would guess) or "part number" I will try and post a screen shot.

Andy, I will also look-up your part numbers and let you know their descriptions in the next post.

Regards

John

Re: Part numbers lookup needed

Andy, The descriptions are as per the EPC and sometimes not too helpful but it is fair to say that they all seem to relate to front axle/CV Joint:

A 007 997 03 47 Sealing of Drive Shaft bearing
A 007 997 04 47 Seal Ring - Outside
A 460 337 04 85 Boot
A 460 994 00 12 Lock - Wheel hub to drive shaft
A 460 337 00 92 Strap - Outside
A 460 337 05 59 Race - Inside
A 460 337 01 92 Strap - Inside
A 460 990 02 60 Nut - Wheel hub to drive shaft
A 460 994 07 41 Lock - Front axle joint
A 008 981 62 05 Tapered roller bearing - inside
A 008 981 59 05 Tapered roller bearing - inside

The descriptions often had footnotes and referred at times to Optional with XXXX (with XXXX being some other designation but not part numbers)

I hope that this is of some help at least.

As to the "Part Search" facility - some of these parts came back as "No Information" however you can usually use Part number to models and it will show it up (and all other vehicles using that part). It is a very useful function at times.

Let me know if I can help further.

Why don't you take some photos and show us, then it's better to tell exactly where they go?

You replying to me? :?

I think that the parts descriptions from EPC have helped; actually John has answered all my question regarding the mystery parts.
