Re: bio diesel

Yes Twodogs,
Feeling anything but "gay" after taking the gay-wagen to the south of England and back, 262 litres at 99.9p/l at an ave of 24.42mpg.
OK I was mostly doing 80 odd on the motorway while towing a small trailer.
Think I will restrict it to tootling round locally in future.

Re: bio diesel

Two dogs,
Very interested to see how you get on with the bio diesel. Is this following a proper conversion kit? I've been toying with the idea of getting it done here in Wicklow. Awaiting promised word on state grants for conversion which using the Elsblett kit is costing about €1800 to get done inc. fitting vat etc.
Have any of you GWOA folks gone down the Elsbett route?
Finally have broadband here so catching up with months of posts.
All the best Daithi

Re: bio diesel

no mods needed the oil is mixed with ethanol so im told , all the local taxis and most of the white vans are running on the stuff .
im told that filters need changing more often as all the rubbish from the derv will be cleaned out of the pipes and tank by the bio-desel..
time will tell .

Re: bio diesel

I think its methanol that bio diesel is mixed with, not ethanol.

Have you had to change any of the fuel pipes? I gather that methanol eats rubber, so if the G-wagen has and rubber pipes they will give once the methanol has done its thing.
