I agree with Mortison 100%.
Members will re-call my experience when I opened up my workshop to all members use, only a few used it, and one or two abused it.
However there are members who have been great mates that have come to my rescue and helped me out and for that alone I am grateful I joined the club and made their aquantance, new members bring new enthusiasm and new ideas and in my opinion are the life blood of any on going club.
To para phrase a very famous man. " Ask not what the club can do for you, but rather what you can do for the club.

Re: benefits of joining GWOA?

I'm one of the first 50 members and the £75 / £100 I've spent on subs has been worth every penny (and then some) for the advice and practical help (Bill Moss, you know who you are) I've had in maintaining a 'G' that I break a lot 'cos it goes off-road regularly. I too am not a 'clubby' person and the sub is the easiest way I can put something back into the community and so not feel too guilty about taking advantage of the experience of the other members who contribute to the forum and the mag.

The way I see it, the club is a group of like-minded people prepared to share their knowledge and the forum / G Whizz is how they do that. The subscription presumably shares the cost of the above out amongst those who prefer to 'pay their way' than free-load, and naturally those who pay can have some influence, if they choose, in how the money is spent.

No-one 'sold' the GWOA to me and I didn't ask what I'd get for my money but - as above - I've had good value and I'd encourage anyone with an interest in the 'G' to join if only because if the costs remain static then the more of us there are the less we each have to pay, or, hopefully because the more money the club has the more it may be able to do to make our ownership easier and more enjoyable.

Only my opinion. Don't mean to preach.

Re: benefits of joining GWOA?

While it is good for there to be good and entertaining interaction and banter between members of the club, this forum should not be construed as a platform for excessive displays of self-indulgence.

Let's move onto more substantive issues now please!!!!!

Elvis, I am sure the community in which you live / work appreciate your humour, being a captive audience tho I suppose they have to, we do not all however have the experience of institutional humour.
Youve made your point, now do some thing constructive, piss or get off the pot.
